Mesa Police Arrest Armed Robbers

On September 1, 2015, at 1:28 a.m. Mesa Police responded to an armed robbery at Circle K located at 1955 W. University.  Four Native American males wearing bandanas entered the store.  Two males walked over to the beer cooler and removed packs of beer. The other two males approached the clerk then pointed a firearm and assaulted the employee. The males took alcohol and cash from the store.  A fifth male was waiting outside in a black Dodge Durango. All males left in the vehicle.  Police units located the described vehicle a couple miles from the Circle K. The vehicle failed to stop when police initiated a traffic stop.  The driver in the suspect vehicle lost control and crashed in the area of Center and Main Street in Mesa. Two suspects remained in the vehicle and were taken into custody. The remaining three suspects immediately fled the scene on foot. A perimeter was established. With the assistance from the Air Unit and K-9 the three suspects were located and taken into custody without incident. The results were from quick and diligent work by patrol, air unit, K-9, and investigation members of the department.

Investigators discovered all five suspects were street gang members.  The suspects were all booked on the following charges:

Aggravated Assault
Armed Robbery
Robbery
Assisting in a Criminal Street Gang
Threats by a Gang Member
Aggravated Robbery

Four of the five suspects are shown. The fifth suspect is a minor.
